Okay it’s Monday. Another Monday. I have a small sense of dread, the kind of knot I try to tamp down with my de rigeur sense of optimism and positivity. Yesterday, in fact the whole weekend, is a reminder of the love and support I have from my friends and family. It came in the form of a birthday. As I rack up the numbers, the birthdays become real markers of valued relationships. And really, that? That makes me hopeful. It puts the dread in a drawer, away from my purview. The validation I sought in my youth–from people I wanted in my life which included lovers, co-workers, and friends–is no longer as relevant as it was; what I seek now is the stability and reliability of a friend. And that, I have. Thank goodness.

Staying the course, career wise.

Taraji:  “I’m an artist to the bone.”

Brianna Wu: “The thing Gamergate taught me is that there’s nothing I can’t handle. What is someone going to do: Call me ugly? Threaten to kill me? I already deal with all of that on a daily basis.”

Roxane Gay’s World of Wakanda.

This plastic surgery of  Six Bomb upset me to no end. Because: they’re only in their 20s. I am not anti-cosmetic surgery, not at all. However, I believe wholeheartedly that reconstructing your face for fame while you’re in your twenties is shortsighted, misguided, foolish. Greed is in them thar hills, and I fear for this band more than anyone.

Kelly Herron: “To the people behind I-1552, I say ‘not today, motherf*ckers.’ I refuse to allow anyone to use me and my horrific sexual assault to cause harm and discrimination to others. And I refuse to stand by as this same group pushes the repeal of Washington’s long-standing laws protecting my transgender friends. If they think they can use my experience to raise money for I-1552, then we have to raise twice as much.”

Another fella on Craigslist who has the skills to …ah, nevermind. 😉

Quiet time is the best time.

Sex stuff.

And now have a laugh with Whitney Cummings.
