Do you have a mentor? Someone who you look up to? Who guides you? Who acts as your Rabbi? A platonic ideal. A person that knows—seems to know—so much about the world you envision yourself in? I read a lot of memoirs and the concept, or rather reality, of people serving as beacons of example comes up over and over again. I find it really, really inspiring. To see that there are women and men who have played roles of inspiration in lives. So I’m wondering, who’s your mentor? If you have one, take a moment and thank that person. It’s possible doesn’t even know the role they have in your life.

Fans and Ariana Grande.

More, on Manchester, and girlhood.

Elizabeth Warren: “And I’ve got news for Donald Trump: up against our army, he doesn’t stand a chance.”

Helen Mirren: “However, I have come to understand that feminism is not an abstract idea but a necessity if we — and really by ‘we,’ I mean you guys — are to move us forward and not backward into ignorance and fearful jealousy.”

The Cinema Siren Says on Cher.

Mama Pope: “Damn shame. I tell you… being a black woman. Be strong, they say. Support your man, raise your man, think like a man. Well damn, I gotta do all that? Who’s out here working for me, carrying my burden, building me up when I get down? Nobody. Black women out here trying to save everybody and what do we get? Swagger jacked by white girls wearing cornrows and bamboo earrings. Ain’t that a bitch? But we still try. Try to help all y’all. Even when we get nothing. Is that admirable or ridiculous? I don’t know.”

Some thoughts on Rihanna.

Watching Melania Trump live her private life under intense scrutiny. Read: subjugation and resistance.

Sand is disappearing as well.

Do you have sweaty feet?

And now have a laugh with Lynn Koplitz.
