Judge Aquilina reacts to Larry Nassar and his letter about how hard it is for him to listen to his victims

FRIDAY. The elixir of the week. The beginning of respite, two days only, but still. It’s been another roller coaster, this one. The great Mark E. Smith of The Fall passed away, age 60. The first time I saw The Fall play was with my first great love, Douglas. Somewhere in New York, I couldn’t tell you. The old Ritz maybe? Or was it, fuck, I have no idea. Mark E. Smith spewed his words, “Totally Wired,” a gale force of punk enveloped in his purity. I was such a fan. I played “Kurious Oranj” over and over and over again. To this day, still. Living Too Late. Taurig. Mr. Pharmacist. All these beautiful gifts, these songs. He wasn’t someone I knew, and yet he gave me so much. RIP Mark E. Smith. And you? Have a great weekend.

You better stand for Rachel Denhollander. And all the women after her.

Judge Rosemarie Aquilina: “It is my honor and privilege to sentence you,” she said, and noting the length of the sentence, added, “I just signed your death warrant.”

Erykah Badu: “That I don’t want to get scared into not thinking for myself. I weigh everything.”

If this is true, I hope Cecile Richards runs for President of the United States.

Brix Smith on the passing of the late great Mark E. Smith.

Christianne Amanpour: “You cannot put a figure on the number of young women who have been squelched or run out of Dodge because they haven’t been able to tolerate it.”

I am a devotee of Isabel Marant scarves and this one that’s on sale is one I covet so very much.

A denim suitcase. I mean, come on. So amazing.

American Tourister Denim Suitcase.

And now have a laugh with Leslie Jones as Will Ferrell.
