I’ve been single a long time. My definition of single is: not being in a relationship (whether open or monogamous.) The last time I had a boyfriend was 2010; I was crazy about him, I was happy, I wasn’t looking at other men (I’m straight.) In the years since the boyfriend though, I’ve been in and out of things with men. “Dating” it’s called. And for me, part of dating involves the digital platform. This includes OK Cupid, Tinder, Bumble and others. I dip in and out of all of them. Sometimes I leave one of them because I have too many “matches,” meaning I’ve swiped right on one too many fellas that have swiped right on me (swiping right means you like them, swiping left means don’t show this dummy again). Sometimes I get swipe finger, which for me is excessive swiping left. The tip of my finger will get a certain numb sensation, which I reckon is my body’s way of telling me to stop it already. (My rule of thumb in a swipe session is, if I swiped left on 100 men, it’s time to do something else). Meeting men is not the most difficult aspect of dating for me; it’s connecting with someone long enough to want to have a conversation with them. And I am ever hopeful that my bashert is out and about, waiting for me the same way I’m waiting for him.

If you haven’t checked out Diana Kane English’s answers to my 8 questions yet, do so now!

You may have guessed that I’m a huge fan of Roxane Gay’s work. I’m so excited that she’s got two books coming out, and she talks about both of them on NPR.

The March is almost upon us. But did you know how it came to be? It’s all thanks to Teresa Shook!

Cecile Richards is a bad ass. “We’ve been around 100 years and we aren’t going anywhere. Come January, we will be launching the largest “Stand with Planned Parenthood” campaign in our history to agitate and engage our millions of supporters around the country to make sure we’re telling the story of what people are poised to lose.”

Mariah Carey handled her live New Year’s Eve performance in her own way. She’s been criticized for it. But she’s also being criticized for her fashion choice. The latter of which I take umbrage with.

A podcast devoted to Black FEMALE Superheroes called Misty Knight’s Uninformed Afro? Yes Please!

A reflection on the year…in misogyny.

And now have a laugh with Mary Lynn Rajskub.
